Bob and I were best friends when we were in grade school. McKinley at Willoughby on the lake. We also sold magazines in a crew for a time. He was the best and bought a car with the money he earned. He was a character.

I just seen this memory of Bob in the News Herald today. My condolences to Bob's family and friends. I knew Bob for many years as the Photographer for the Painesville City Schools and as a friend who l got to know well through my dad who was friends with him as well as the many years we spent with him coming into Thayer's for development of film and Photography supplies when we carried them and stopping by for a soda or milkshake and say Hi after we become a Soda Fountain. He was a Loving, Thoughtful, Compassionate Guy that I as well as my family will never forget. May he rest in eternal peace. Much Love, Tammy Williams Kelly

Family and Friends of Bob,
In the 1970's, as I was beginning my teaching career, I first met Bob as "the picture taking guy". He had a special talent in getting the students to relax and smile with his quips. He was remembered by them each year as photos were to be taken.
A few years later, as we were planning our wedding, I knew without a doubt who would be doing the photography. Unfortunately Bob suffered a heart attack shortly prior and was unable to take the pictures himself but the important thing was that he was okay.
In the fall of 1999, which began my last year of teaching due to my retirement, I mentioned that fact to Bob when he came to take pictures at the school. He graciously signed my album of the 30 class pictures he had taken with "Thanks for all the memories. . .your Picture Man, Bob Barbian."
As you can see, Bob touched my life many times.
May he now rest in peace!
