Back in the early 1980s I had the pleasure of working with Floyd in Daytona Beach and surrounding areas. I was in my early 20s and was hired on as a worker for a government program called the Comprehensive Educational Training Act or CETA. Myself along with a coworker called Bobby White from, I believe, South Carolina worked alongside With Floyd doing what was called "Weatherization Program". This CETA program help underprivileged people, around the Daytona Beach area, with any problems they were gaving with roofing, windows etc where weather could infiltrate their home.
At the time a man call Jerry Applegate was our boss. I had the pleasure of becoming a good friend and acquaintance of Floyd. I remember he would set up different paint cans and buckets and banged away on them with fantastic precision. We used to kid and joke around all thee of us together. He was such a great person to know. I am now 68 years and have nothing but fond memories of his smiling face and gentle way about him. I look forward to seeing him again in Jehovah God's paradise earth.

It was my pleasure to have met Floyd Miles while he was on the run with Greg Allman. i cant remember if Devon introduce us or if we just started chatting. He told me stories about coming to nyc as a teen and all the great musicians he saw at Appllo. He told me a joke and it upset this girl and i still laughed.I remember he told me a Joke and a girl with us did not like it. Since i laughed ... liked my company from that moment on. We didn't talk all music we talked about life. i always offered to give him my arm to walk or help him to stage he almost always refused. i remember going to a brothers show and that Floyd had to retire from the road. i knew i would probably not see him again sadly. it has been a horrific year for this great bunch of friends. i know floyd was surrounded by love. god bless the people that miss him,his music and his laughter,

It was such an honor to meet Floyd when he came to Macon, my hometown, many years ago. What a fine gentleman & one blessed with talent! It was with sadness that I learned Floyd had been called home.
Whenever I lose a person I've treasured, I take comfort in this. Because of the promise of eternal life, we will all be reunited again one day in our heavenly home. My thoughts & prayers are with you all, now & during the days to come.
