James White Obituary

The Rev. James L. White, 76, DeBary, died March 6, 2007, following a brief illness. The Rev. White was retired as an ordained United Methodist Minister moving to DeBary in 1998. He began his ministry in the New England Southern Conference serving churches in Massachusetts and Connecticut. For most of his ministry, he was a member of the New York Conference serving churches on Long Island and in the metropolitan area. He was educated at Boston University, receiving an A.B. Degree from the College of Liberal Arts and a Master's of Sacred Theology from the School of Theology. Son of the late Eugene and Verna White, he was born in Wilson, N.C., and grew up in Dighton, Mass. In addition to his wife of 53 years, Dorothy, he is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald White, Deltona, Douglas and Carol White, Ramsey, N.J., Dennis and Lynn White, Gaithersburg, Md., and Dale and Debra White, South Easton, Mass., and was predeceased by one son, Andrew (Duncan) White, Tampa, who died in 1996. He leaves nine loving grandchildren, Michael, Jordan, Allison, Courtney, Casey, Shannon, Joshua, Amanda, Timothy, and one great-granddaughter, Mia. He also is survived by four siblings, Rev. Eugene (Mac) White, Ocala, Lynette Babbitt, Somerset, Mass., Jewel Miller, Brighton, Colo., and Ainsley Snell, Marstons Mills, Mass. He had many nieces and nephews. Rev. (Jim) White and his wife, Dorothy, attended the First United Methodist Church of Orlando regularly and enjoyed the Bach Festival Society concerts in Winter Park. Besides love of music and family, Jim enjoyed working part-time at a number of local businesses. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the First United Methodist Church of Orlando, 142 East Jackson St, with tthe Rev. Rodney C. Wallace officiating. In honor of Rev. James L. White, memorials may be directed to the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, 1000 Holt Avenue, Box 2763, Winter Park, FL 32786 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Baldauff Family Funeral Home, Orange City, is in charge.
