I worked with your brother Nick for 12 years at PJ Signs until Dec. 2012 when I decided to retire. I, like everyone else was shocked when I heard the news (through Shelia) that Nick passed suddenly.
A friendship was born immediately back in 1999 when a mutual friend gave us both our info when he was looking for an office manager that had endured through the years.
Not only was Nick my friend and mentor, he honored Steven & I at our wedding in 2004 (he told me later that he had always wanted to write a check to Mr. & Mrs.) Nick also came to both Steven's and my 50th B'day parties and we both laughed that he was only a year older than I was by just several days. One bike week he handed us the keys to ride his beloved older Harley with only one concern: The bike is replaceable, you and Steven are not. To us Nick's rugged exterior housed enough love to bring peace to the entire world.
On one occasion we were over in Tampa area visiting family on our motorcycle when it died half way home off I-4. We could not get it started, so I called Nick and asked him if he wanted to go on an excursion, explained what happened, told me he was shutting down cooking dinner and would be there soon with the trailer. Then took us to dinner at Texas de-brazil in Orlando and would hear nothing about us paying, as he told us, this was his favorite place to eat and did not get over to Orlando often enough. The irony of this dinner, Steven did see him take the cork from the bottle of wine we had, so I am sure it is in his home somewhere. We babysat Tuesday on many occasions. He joined the pool league we were on at the Moose Lodge here in Ormond, and personally I think that was the most fun time I had with Nick. We shot (and he was very good at it) drank and on many occasions Wild Bill would join us in drinks and laughter.
I feel like I know you all through all the conversations he had about you and the love he had for his family. We talked about your father's produce business, Ann-Maries wedding, Tim's home in Maryland. Nick was a proud man and it showed in his everyday manners, work ethics and how he spoke of you all. He would have given his shirt off his back to help any of his friends and expect nothing back in return. He was proud of PJ Sign Systems; we watched it grow adding the mailbox line and Reddi Rack for guns. They were not as successful, but watching him purchase and love his guns was a great side effect. The man, Nick Lyddane, made PJ Sign Systems what it is now, and from what I understand Karen has helped him do this. I am pleased you have decided to keep his legacy going. Daytona and Ormond Beach would be lost without this company.
Fondly,
Cathy Breitmaier

My dear Nick...how is this possible?...We were soul friends in life and now will still be in death. You were taken from us too soon, but, God needed a Harley boy. :) We always had the best time when you were there - from elementary to high school - and tons of times after! The parties you had at your parent's house and at your apartment! Priceless! Epic! I will always love you, my friend. Candi

Ann-Marie, Tim & Anthony: I'm so sorry to read about Nick. I know as cousins we never had an opportunity to spend time together or really get to know each other. Nick wrote a letter to me that was so heartfelt after we saw each other at your dad's funeral & it showed me what a nice and loving person he was. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
