RALPH HANGER Obituary


Ralph Buck Spencer Hanger, age 81, died at the Harbor Oaks Nursing Home Tuesday the 18th of January. A native Floridian, Mr. Hanger was born April 12, 1929 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Mainland High School until joining the Marine Corps and serving in WWII. An avid Nascar fan, he loved fast cars, attending races with his sons, and street racing with his work buddies. Buck was employed by Florida Power and Light and retired after 38 years in 1989. He was preceded in death by two sons, Russell and Ronald S. Hanger and his wife, Frances Hanger McDonald. He leaves behind four sons, Michael B. Hanger, Houston, TX, Randy L. Hanger, New Smyrna Beach, Robin D. Hanger, Holly Hill, Kevin W. Hanger, Daytona Beach and one daughter, Judith Ann Swindle, Daytona Beach. He also has one surviving brother, James W. Hanger, a former officer with the Volusia Co. Sheriff's Dept.; Buck was grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a great grandfather to four great grandchildren. Funeral service for Mr. Hanger will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home 167 Ridgewood Ave. Holly Hill and viewing will be at the funeral home Sat. from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
