Rosetta McDowell

A Celebration of Life for Rosetta McDowell, 70, South High Street, who departed this life December 19, 2007, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, at the Church of Christ, 1120 South Thompson Street, DeLand, with Brother Charlie Jenkins officiating. Calling hours are today (Friday) from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Arthur Mack Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow the services at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Born to the late Janie Harriel Fort and Johnny McDowell on March 27, 1937 in Marianna, Fla., she came to DeLand at a very early age where she attended Volusia County schools. She was employed at Sherwood Medical Industries (TYCO) where she worked for 25 years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where she looked forward to the weekly fellowship services until her recent illness. She leaves to mourn, a daughter, Jean Nealy, DeLand; two sons, Lonnie Wilson (Midge), Deltona, Gerald Wilson (Sheila), DeLand; grandchildren, Grace Wilson, DeLand, Alicia Wilson, DeLand, Eric Wilson, Deltona, LaNece Wilson-Nunez (Joel), Deltona, Senika Mattocks (Herbert), Ft. Bragg, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Johnnie Mae Proctor, DeLand; two brothers, James L. Fort, Daytona Beach, Eddie C. Fort, DeLand; a special niece, Jannie L. Patterson; two special nephews, Ret. SFC Wayne Patterson and Keith Proctor; three very special friends, Annie Willson, Mildred Duboise, DeLand, and Pam Crain, Lumpoc, Calif.
