After reading the emails from family members celebrating your life and mourning your death, I am touched in a special way. I don't want to cry but I cant help it. I know you would not want that. I'm supposed to be the clown, the one cheering everybody up but I don't feel like laughing right now. This is tough for every one of us. Please allow me this moment to remember you. Tomorrow we'll be back to our regular selves laughing, joking and making fun of each other. You know how we do. Love you and miss you.

Thursday 9/22/06 marked the one year anniversary of your meeting with our Lord. I woke up that morning and began to remember how my life and the lives of those who loved you changed in what seems like an instant. I looked at the clock as each hour passed and I tried to remember the exact time that Meredith called me and asked me to come and sit with her at the emergency room because she had taken you there and she needed some company while she waited for them to check you out. If I can remember it was around 9am. I immediately got up from my desk and headed to the hospital. I was in no hurry because Meredith's call did not sound urgent. I called Gail and told her where I was going and told her I would call as soon as I found out how you were doing. As I sit here and relive that day, my eyes are full of tears because I know that within an hour after I arrived, my lfe changed drastically. I can remember so vividly the doctor coming into the waiting room where Meredith, your mom and I sat talking and laughing and waiting for someone to come and tell us that we could go see you and that you were okay. I remember the doctor saying to us that you did not make it. Boy, it was if he were speaking another language because the shock was too much to grasp. I can remember running out of the room and everything else is a blur until I was being helped to my feet by a nurse and a doctor who sadly confirmed the news. My life and the lives of all who knew you, loved and cared for you have not been the same. We have passed many "first's" such as your first birthday, our first Thanksgiving, Christmas, Florida Classic, New Years and so on, without your physical presence although your spiritual presence continues to remain with us forever until we meet again on the other side. Hold it down for us lil cuz. We will have family reunion Williams style when we get there.

Our Dear Tanisha,
As I sit at my desk, I can't help but relive that Thursday. I got a phone call from mama, "Meredith is on her way to take Tanisha to the emergency room. I'll call you back when I find out what's going on". The next call came from Kaye, "I just got a call from Meredith. She's at the emergency room with Tanisha. I'm on my way there, I'll call you back and let you know what's going on". The next call came from Kaye, "You all need to come home". Then another one from Kaye "hurry up and come home". I'm reliving that day and praying that God will give us strength to make it through. We know that He will, but it's hard.
We love and miss you sooooooo much!
Your cousin,
Gail

To The William’s Family,
I was so surprised to here of Tanisha’s passing. What a grave loss to the community, church, family and friends. The last time I saw her was at a small function she had at her beautiful home. While I was at the function, a beautiful though came to mind. It was nice to see such a mixed crowd. There were family members, classmates, church members, and friends all in the same room. She didn’t live one way around one group and then another way around the next group. We should all take something from that. I’m mighty glad to have known her and to have enjoyed her jolly laugh….

To the Williams Family,
Words can't say enough how proud I know you are that your angel has touched so many of us (since grade school at Highlands Elementary). Tanisha will forever be missed. Although we're all grown up and I'm far away, she and I never missed a week (at most) of communicating via email. As a matter of fact, the Mainland Class of '89 crew/Famu graduates from Daytona will be meeting this year in Tallahassee for Famu's Homecoming with Tanisha in our hearts and on our minds - simply because she had rallied everyone together and planned to celebrate my 35th birthday that same weekend. Everyone knows ... Once a Rattler, always a Rattler. But Tanisha and I know ... Once a LIBRA, always a LIBRA (smiles). Now that's the Tanisha I know and will miss whole-heartedly - her ability to motivate and encourage people to do the right thing and she led by example. Her wish WILL BE carried out - NO DOUBT! And for every person and issue I face and encounter, it will be addressed and handled with GRACE, POISE, DIGNITY AND TACT - just like the phenomenal woman I know, love and celebrate - Dr. Tanisha L. Williams.
Love,

Tanisha, it's been 3 weeks since God saw fit to call one of his most precious angels home to rest. Although we are deeply saddened because of the void in our lives, we know you're at peace. I remember teasing you a couple of months ago about when we were little. While we (the older cousins) were arguing and fighting, you were quoting bible verses "BEHOLD, I STAND, AT THE DOOR, AND KNOCK" (Rev 3:20)….maybe not the whole verse, but that was very good for a little one who can barely talk. I think that's when our grandmother started making us read bible verses whenever we fought. Like Kaye said, we will miss you not being "in your spot in front of the fireplace" on our new year's eve family sleepovers, but we know you will be there in our hearts.
We love and miss you dearly.

Tanisha, we will all miss your beautiful smile, your care and concern for us. You always supported us in everything, all we had to do was call. You never made excuses, you just asked when, where, what do I bring and what time. To the Williams Family:
I would like to express my sincere deepest sympathy in the loss of your beloved daughter and love one. Her Homegoing celebration was a true celebration of the life that she lived. She was beautiful even in death. Tanisha will be missed by all whom she came in contact with. I was fortunate enough to have gone to pharmacy school with her but even more we lived on the same hall our Sophmore year at FAMU. She was a beautiful person both inside and out and loved the Lord. Her smile and laughter will be remembered always. When I got the news I was so shocked because I had just spoken about her saying that I would see her at the Atlanta game as usual and how she didn't mind traveling alone. She is only taking her rest and we will see her again. I know that you are very proud of your daughter; however, as her parents you also did a great job. Her love comes from her family. As the minister said and stated in the Bible, She finished the race and laid up for her is the crown of rightouesness. May God continue to strengthen you and bless you.

My deepest condolences to the family of Tanisha. I had the good fortune to meet her years ago through a common friend and knew then that she would be someone special.
In his own infinite wisdom, the Lord has chosen to call his child home but not before allowing her to leave an impact on the community of young people that she loved so dearly. Know that although her time here may have been short, she has indeed done what the Lord told her to do.
You will be in my prayers.

To The Williams Family:
Indeed, words fail us in adequately describing our heartfelt sympathy in the death of our cousin Dr. Tanisha Williams. Dr. Williams was such a gifted young lady that touched the lives of thousands in her career. We will certainly miss her smiles and humor. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will bring you comfort in the days ahead.

I am sorry for the loss of your daughter. She sounds like such a lovely lady and human being. May you help each other through this and may you take pride in the fact she lead a good life and you raised a wonderful woman. Yes, you raised a wonderful woman. She did more than most people I know. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Bless you.
