I still think you should have married me...after all, I proposed at least 7 times! You brought such joy to my life every time I saw you! You were the best neighbor, best cook, best actor/singer/dancer I have ever to have been blessed with in my life! I will always love you!

I am so sorry to hear about DD. I said hello to him a few years ago when my daughter told me who she was talking to. He used to come over to our house and play with my kids when they were all young. I remember that he was such a nice and sweet boy. My condolences to his mother, siblings, and other family.

I met DD when we were kids and we spent summers dancing and cheering. Though I lost contact with him over the years he has always been in my memory and heart. He was one of the most genuine and gifted persons Ive ever met.
Much love to his family and all of his friends.

I knew Derrick from his time selling breads at our C-Street Market. He was such a kind and gentle soul. Always had a smile for you, a fun story to share, a shoulder to lean on if you needed it. From all our vendors that knew and loved him, we send our greatest sympathy to his family and friends. A candle extinguished here, yet lit again somewhere else. Bless you my friend.

DD danced into my life, fall of 1989. I was an insecure Freshman stage manager at SMSU...he was a star.
My jaw hit the floor the first time I saw him perform. He was warm, funny, smart...I idolized him.
He was also very tender. First time we spoke, he walked up with a big smile and asked, "So, what's your story?" He also thanked me for my hard work, sensing I was struggling, the empath that he was. He hugged me, and for 30 years, we never stopped hugging upon sight. I'm grateful and feel privileged to have known and loved him.

Not enough time to get to know you Derrik. The short time was enough to know you were spreading joy...
Rest my sweet friend....
