Jim was a true mentor to my then teenaged son back in 2000. He would often stay long hours (without pay) to explain any concept. I remember myself, my husband and Jim (the 3 parents) all staring up into the night sky for over an hour, when my son was late returning from a cross-county flight and he wasn't yet ready for night flying. He was the originator of my son's nickname "Mach" which is still in wide use today! Oh and Mach went on to Embry Riddle (undergrad/grad) and now works for corporate Delta (in management) and flies occasionally for recreation. How does one thank someone for being such a positive influence in their child's life? I am deeply saddened to hear of Jim's passing and send my sincere condolences to those that knew and loved him.

I was so sorry to read of Jim's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I had no idea that you had lost John as well. We had lost contact about 5 years ago. Have fond memories of both John and Jim. Janice, not sure if you remember me, but I came over to your mom and dad's several times to visit John.

Jim, if you are with them now, please give John and Cassie a hug and kiss and let them know how much they are loved and missed by me and Katy. I wish we could've spoken this past year... My thoughts are with your family.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Bauer family, especially after the loss of brother/uncle John just about 1 year ago. Tears fell for John, my-ex husband and father of my two daughters. The Bauer family always made me feel like a part of the family during our marriage and after the loss of our daughter, Cassie. Jim was a fun and loving brother, a great confidant to me and a wonderful uncle to our girls. I will be shedding some tears for him as well. All we can hope is that John, Jim, Leo & Katherine, and Cassie are together, wherever they are. Love and Thoughts with all that feel this loss, Stefanie & Katherine Bauer.
