John and I were first cousins and friends throughout our lives. During our fifty year friendship and association we never shared a cross word. John was a wonderful athlete, scholar, soldier, and gentleman. John was known for his courage. Yet he was equally known for his kindness to others. I was always very proud of him and I will miss him. RIP John.

John, I shall forever remember your many kindnesses and what a gentleman you were.
Since having a respite from my lawncare, I had
thought this week that I would call you to see if
your schedule could include me again this Spring.
In reading your obituary I learned of your many
accomplishments in your young life. God Bless You.

Love from Maryan Smith and extended family

I'm so sorry to learn of John's death. I will always cherish the fond memories I have with John at GHS. We spent many hours practicing, running and working out together. John was an athlete and so was I. Our individual dedication to each sport brought us closer together and bonded us as teammates. John, make that final run into the arms of Jesus! You will be sorrowfully missed here. May God bless and keep you for all eternity.
