Misty McMillan Obituary
November 13, 1974 August 21, 2006 Misty Lynn McMillan, age 31, was born Nov. 13th, 1974, in Springfield, Mo. Our little flutterby, (that's what we called our sweet Misty), was called home early to heaven on Aug 21st, 2006, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis from complications of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). In her short 31 years, Misty had traveled to so many beautiful, wonderful places, and did so many things most of us only dream about. Through all of her travel she made many friends all over the world, her relationships spanning from Seattle to Boston, here in the US, all the way to Scotland, Europe, Costa Rica, and even Sweden. Now, she has traveled to heaven to see her heavenly father and will no doubt make it an even brighter place. Everyone she was around was blessed by her bright smile, positive outlook and passion for life. As her friends often said, "When Misty came into the room, she brought so much sunshine and warmth with her that everyone loved her." She couldn't say enough about all of her wonderful, supportive family and friends. She was so thankful for them and humbled by their love and support. We, in turn, were so blessed to have her in our lives. She will be truly missed. Misty attended Buffalo Grade School in Buffalo, Mo., Hickory Hills Jr. High and graduated from Glendale High School in 1993. She attended Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland, for one year and graduated from SMSU. Misty was a lifetime member of Second Baptist Church. She had worked in the Hotel industry for eight years as a meeting/event planner and sales manager after graduating from college. She was just beginning new challenges in her life with a career in real estate, a new home in St. Louis and she had also met the "Love of her life" , Gage Scouten, who remained by her side every day and night since they met last October. She knew he was the "one" she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Misty is survived by her parents, JD and Linda McMillan of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Lisa McCann and husband, Rodney, and their children, Ian, Evan, Erica and Eden of Mountain View, Mo.; sister, Cinnamon Shirk and her husband, Troy, and their children, Tyler, Riley and Quenci of Rogersville, Mo.; brother, Ryan McMillan of St. Louis, Mo.; and her fiance, Gage Scouten, of St. Louis, Mo.; and a host of family and friends that loved her very much. The family will receive friends tonight, Aug 24th, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W Battlefield, Springfield, Mo., from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at Second Baptist Church, 3111 E Battlefield, Springfield, Mo., at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug 25th.
