Cornelius Francis "Connie" Lewis

Cornelius Francis "Connie" Lewis lived his life defined by a simple outline. Family, friends, and faith would be the north star to guide him in life. Hard work, love and humor were the tools used to drive him towards that goal. Connie was lucky in life.

He was lucky to have met and married Kate Treanor Lewis, his wife of 59 years from the south side of Boston. Five decades into their marriage he would start every day the same way. Connie would wake up early to make Kate coffee while writing brief love notes on post-its for her to find later.

Connie and Kate were lucky to have five healthy, happy children and six grandchildren. Though he was busy with work, Connie found the time to coach baseball, basketball, and football. He considered his wiffle ball pitch "the riser" to be unhittable. When his kids outgrew sports, he coached them in other aspects of their life and helped in overcoming any challenge they were presented by providing sound advice.

Connie was lucky in business. His integrity, honesty, diligence, and compassion are well remembered by his colleagues. The one-time beer salesman finished his career on the Board of Directors of Walman Optical.

Connie considered himself lucky to retire. Shortly after retirement he and Kate sold their longtime home in Minnesota and relocated to their new home in Fort Myers, FL. Summers were reserved for their home in Hull, MA. He spent his free time golfing with friends (badly), teaching young children to read and other life skills, ringing the bell for the salvation army, volunteering at Hope Hospice, and working as a driver at the local hospital.

Born in Everett, MA. After a brief stint in the Air Force during the Korean war, Connie earned a degree in Economics and minor in Philosophy at Boston College. One of his treasured memories is going back for his 50th reunion with his wife as Golden Eagles.

Connie labored to find time for all his passions in life, but made that work seem effortless. The luck that Connie enjoyed was not really luck at all. As a devout Catholic, he would explain with his favorite phrase, "I am blessed". He prayed daily, never missed a Sunday mass, held volunteer positions, and sang in the choir at every church he belonged to in the various states in which he lived.

Connie's arrival in life everlasting will be celebrated by the nine siblings and many friends and family who preceded him. There will be rejoicing in heaven.

A celebration of his life will be held at St John XXIII Catholic Church 13060 Palomino Ln, Ft. Myers, FL 33912 Thursday February 25, 2021. 10 am Visitation 11am Mass. The service will be livestreamed.

Interment for Connie will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Connie's memory be directed to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
