Patricia R Sammons Verkler

Fort Myers - Patricia R Sammons Verkler, 92, of Fort Myers, FL, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 13th, 2020.

Pat was born "Patsy Ruth" on November 26th, 1928 in Hellier, KY to Charles and Gertrude (Blankenship) Hibbitts. She spent most of her childhood in Richlands, VA and moved to Florida shortly after high school.

She enjoyed a modeling career and participated in multiple beauty pageants in Fort Pierce. She was a member of the Fort Myers Junior Women's Club and Carissa Garden Club. She was a long-time member of McGregor Baptist church and was actively involved in their singles ministry.

Pat loved gardening, swimming and spending time in the Florida sun. She had a knack for creating beautiful floral arrangements. She was an avid bridge player and played weekly with her bridge club for most of her life.

Pat is predeceased by her son, Thomas E Sammons, parents, Charles and Gertrude Hibbitts, husband, Bob Verkler, and former husband, G.E. Sammons.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Chris) Lee, sons, Bill (Debi) Sammons, Dave (Linda) Sammons and Chris Sammons, daughter, Pat (Mike) Corradino, granddaughters, Carla Nusbaum, Brittany Lee and Cassi (Liz) Lee, grandsons, Chase Sammons and Jon Lee, great granddaughter, Amanda (Waner) Del Rosario, 3 great great grandchildren, and life-long friend, Katherine Simpson.

A small family service will take place in the spring and will be streamed online. Memorial contributions may be made to the ACT Shelter at www.actabuse.com.
