Warren Roger Martin, 82, of Piney River, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at his home. Born in Lynchburg, March 7, 1943, he was a son of the late Denton Martin and Gertrude Martin.
Warren had worked for the Nelson Co. Sheriff's Office, retiring after many years. He was also a bus driver for Nelson County Public Schools and was a faithful member of Rose Union Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. Warren loved his dogs, Mattie and Lady, his goats, and was an avid supporter of 4-H.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Joyce Martin; sons, Roger Martin (Delores) of Amherst, and Timothy "Timmy" Martin (Kristen) of Bristow; bonus children, Ralph Seay and David Seay Jr., both of Amherst, and Angela Seay of Fluvanna; brother, Dennis Martin (Judy) of Concord; grandchildren, Megan Campbell (Lucas), Courtney Martin (Nick Phelps), Brianna Martin, Hayley Martin, Tucker Martin, Nicholas King, Taylor Cargill (Matthew), and Mary Catherine Tolbert; bonus grandchildren, Wyatt Seay and Griffin Seay; great-grandchildren, Raegan, Scarlett, Wyatt, and Josephine; son-in-law, Ray Tolbert; sister-in-law, Nancy Martin; nephews, Keith Martin (Stacey), Jeff Martin (Michele), Gerry Martin (Branden), and Phillip Martin (Lauren); great-nephews, Grayson and Levi; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Angela Tolbert and Anissa Martin; and a brother, Buddy Martin.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Rose Union Baptist Church, P.O. Box 45, Piney River, VA 22964, or to the Piney River Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 33, Piney River, VA 22964.
The family received friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Rose Union Baptist Church by Rev. John Campbell and Pastor Brandon Williams with burial following in Jonesboro Cemetery.
