To the family of Lt. Col Ashby,
My father is a retired Air Force officer living in Goodyear, AZ (Pebble Creek) and knew Lt. Col. Ashby and played golf with him. My Dad spoke of Lt. Col. Ashby with great fondness and respect. Being from a military family I pride myself on being a patriot, and I’m saddened over the passing of a such a beloved and national treasure of a man that was Lt. Col. Ashby. Thank you for your service to your country sir, and to citizens like me who live under the mantle of freedom you so bravely fought for. Deepest condolences to the Ashby family. I have no doubt Lt. Col. Ashby has flown his greatest flight and touched the face of God. Respectfully, Dan Allen

I was saddened to see that Col. Ashby had passed away. My Father Lt. Col. Marvin Hamilton served with Col. Ashby in England. When I shared this with my Father yesterday he was also saddened to hear of his passing. Last night, my Father shared numerous stories of their times together in England. He could of not asked to to work with a finer person than Col. Ashby. In telling one story my Dad said my Sister used to play in the mud with his Boys as Children and she would always come home so dirty. They always had the time of their lives playing in the neighborhood. He and his Family touched our Family in such a positive way. He will forever be remembered as such a genuinely nice person and for his contributions to our Country. May God Bless Col. Ashby and his Family at this difficult time. Our Family would like to send a card via the mail to his Family if someone could share the address. My email is [email protected]. Thank you

Once we were neighbors and then colleagues at the original Frontier Airlines, but for half a century we’ve been friends. Cheryl and I have shared many pleasant times with Bob & Dorina. Great memories to hold onto. RIP old friend!
One thing to mention is that Captain Robert Ashby was the only Tuskegee Airman to become an airline pilot and, in 1986, he was the last retiree of the historic Frontier Airlines.

And we loose one more of 'Our' famous Tuskegee Airmen that fought in World War Two!! He was a proud African-American, that also painted the tail of his airplane red, to be known as Red Tails, and not be mistaken for the other Airmen that also fought in the War!! These brave African-American men were from Tuskegee, Alabama!! And, there are very few of them left!! Thank You Robert Ashby for your service and sacrifice!! Thoughts/Condolences/Prayers to his Family and Friends!! GOD bless 'each' and every one of you!!
