Alexander West "Sandy" Mosby III

Mr. Alexander West "Sandy" Mosby III, of 775 Canterbury Drive, Halifax, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his home. He was born in Lynchburg on July 2, 1938, and was 72 years of age. He was the son of the late Alexander W. Mosby Jr. and Loulie Millner Mosby and was married to Marcia Bowman Mosby, who survives.

Mr. Mosby was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, was retired as vice president with Leggett Department Stores, was past president of Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrews and a mentor with Role Model.

Mr. Alexander West "Sandy" Mosby III is survived by his wife, Marcia Bowman Mosby, of Halifax; one daughter, Laura Mosby McAdams, and husband, Joe McAdams, of Halifax; one son, Christopher West Mosby, and wife, Ann, of North Andover, Mass.; one brother, Richard Tyler Mosby, and wife, Margaret Murphy Mosby, of Lynchburg; one sister, Janie Sackett Mosby, of Warrenton; and three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Mosby, of Atlanta, Ga., Joseph Alexander Mosby, of North Andover, Mass., and Addison Grey Weddle, of Richmond.

A memorial service for Mr. Alexander West "Sandy" Mosby III will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at St. John's Episcopal Church, with Father Gary Butterworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 4, 2010, at St. John's Episcopal Church and other times at his home 775 Canterbury Drive, Halifax.
