Caroline McPeters Obituary

Caroline Louise McPeters

Caroline Louise McPeters, 16, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at her home.

Born Feb. 8, 1994, she was the daughter of Melissa Proffitt Wilson and Jon McPeters and her loving stepfather, Dr. John Wilson. Caroline was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Lynchburg. She was a sophomore at New Vista School. Caroline had a love for life, her family, friends, horses and a good laugh. Her spirit and smile brought joy to all who knew her. She had a special passion for her horses and trained daily at Northwind Stables, where she had a very special friend and trainer, Brittany Parcell. Caroline was very goal oriented and had planned to follow in her brother Steven's footsteps and attend James Madison University, where she would study nursing to become a neo-natal intensive care nurse. Caroline was a treasure to her family and friends, a joy in their hearts and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she is also survived by two sisters, Carter Elizabeth and Riley Anne, of Lynchburg; and one brother, Eric Milton, of Eureka, Calif.; her maternal grandparents, E. Wayne and Elizabeth Proffitt, of Lynchburg; her paternal grandparents, Rondell and Catherine McPeters, of Altavista; and paternal step grandparents, George and Wilhelmenia Wilson, of Inverness, Fla. She was preceded in death by her older brother, Steven.

A celebration of Caroline's life and faith will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday. March 8, 2010, at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Beck officiating. The family will receive friends with a reception immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may sent to First Baptist of Lynchburg, 1100 Court St., Lynchburg, VA 24505; or Churches for Urban Ministry, 1022 Floyd St., Lynchburg, VA 24505.

I knew Caroline for a short time she was my brothers ex girlfriend. She was a beautiful girl with so much potential. It breaks my heart to see how short of a time we had to enjoy her. Nobody should have to deal with the death of a 16 year old. My deepest condolances go to her faimly and may she always be remembered. You are in my prayers always.

There are so many good, happy memories of Caroline...she and Peyton and how much fun they had together..get togethers at my house...visits to the Assessment Center...laughing...riding the 4-wheeler..cookouts..and the day Caroline drove the Explorer into the bushes!! And what a wonderful person she was..I will cherish these memories forever. Sweet Caroline

This is how I will forever remember Caroline. She went to West Virginia with me, Devon, and Matt, and it was a beautiful day. There was no cell service or cable so there wasn't anything to do but be with each other. It was a beautiful, cool sunny day and Caroline and Devon were laughing and having fun and enjoying life.
