Connie Smith Stanek, 62 of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Born on January 25, 1960 in Lynchburg, Va. Connie was the daughter of the late John Walter Smith Sr and the late Delores Cole Smith. She is survived by her loving daughter, Stacie Cole Anderson (Kevin); two grandchildren, Elijah Cole and Gabriel Cade; her devoted boyfriend, Curtis Williamson; her nephews, Greg Smith of Tenn., and Ben and Scott Smith of Bedford and her special Aunt Freddie and Uncle Donald of North Carolina.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel Andrew Stanek; her brother, John Walter Smith Jr.; her sister, Tracy Maureen Smith; and her granddaughter, Aspen Grace.

Connie graduated from Jefferson Forest High School and Averett College. She was the Human Resource Manager at JCrew, Thomasville Furniture and Carillion Labs for over 25 years. She was dedicated to community service beginning with her days as a Girl Scout. Connie volunteered her time with Lynchburg Junior Woman's Club, Junior Achievement, Relay for Life, Meals on Wheels and most recently helped with food collections during COVID at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Connie was a ray of sunshine. Her smile would light up any room she walked into. She had the biggest, most caring heart.

A Memorial Service will be held in Connie's honor on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Forest United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charlie Johnson of Forest United Methodist Church officiating. Family will also receive friends one hour before service.
