Mr. Douglas Dean Neighbors, age 66, of Brookneal, passed away on November 11, 2021, in Lynchburg. He was the son the late Lee Roy Neighbors Sr. and Myrtle Doris Mawyer Neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shelby East.
He is survived by his children, Dean Allen Neighbors of Fayettesville, N.C., and Stacy Lynn Neighbors of South Boston; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchildren; three sisters, Judy Ward, Patricia Wilson (Bossy), and Wanda Crews (Jimmy), all of Brookneal; brother, Lee Roy Neighbors Jr. of Rustburg; one aunt, June Mosbrook (Guy); one uncle, Arthur J. Neighbors (Andrea); special loving friend, Laura Triplett; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 2 p.m.at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with interment at White's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rustburg. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 14, 2021, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Brookneal. Condolences may be expressed at www.JeffressFuneralHome.com.

Dean in younger years ran cross country and track for William Campbell High School and I, his cousin did the same for Brookville HS, so we both were often competing against one another in meets, as I recall he most frequently won the ribbons. You are beloved and missed - Godspeed. The scripture for you must surely be - Matthew 10: 29 - 31

We are so very sorry for your loss. Dean was a dear friend to my late mother Edna. Dean loved the Lord! He seemed to never meet a stranger and was always kind.
He will be truly missed.
