Eilene Wheat Obituary
Eilene Pratt Wheat, 66, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born Monday, April 19, 1943, in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Oscola Pratt and Vernie Hall Pratt.
She was preceded in death by a daughter; Doris Lynn Wheat, a brother, Palmer G. Pratt, and his wife, Carolyn; and a sister, Nadiene P. Turner, and her husband, Edwin.
She was retired from Wachovia Bank and also Arthur's Business Service and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her husband, Owen Carter Wheat, a sister, Hattie McMillan, and husband, Wayne, of Forest, and many special nieces and nephews.
The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Ebenezer United Methodist Church, c/o Roger Layne, 1155 Reynolds Road, Bedford, VA 24253.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with the Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. today, April 9, 2010, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.

Eilene will truly be missed. I got to know her while she was working with Arthur's Business Service. She was such a sweet person. I am blessed to have gotten to know her over the past few years.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time.

Owen,
Im so sorry to hear of Eilene's passing, you guys were so special to me. I'll never forget the times we had at "Mams's Home Cooking" and the time I dressed as a clown and served you, your birthday dinner at the restaurant. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Eilene was such a dear person to me when I worked with her at the Bank. She was a friend when I needed a friend at a difficult time for me. I will always be grateful to her. Owen, prayers and sympathy go out to you at this hard time to endure. Just know that Heaven has a new angel now.
