Harry Louis Higginbotham
Harry Louis Higginbotham, 78, of Spout Spring, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Moses-Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Barbara Tyree Higginbotham.
Born July 22, 1928, in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Alfred and Mary Reynolds Higginbotham. He was retired from the maintenance department of B&W and was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Elaine Higginbotham; a step-son, Bill Fielder; and a brother, Oscar Higginbotham.
Mr. Higginbotham is survived by one step-son, Roger Fielder and his wife, Jackie, of Rustburg; three sisters, Bell Campbell of Apopka, Fla., Margaret Shugeinis of West Pittston, Pa., and Rose Cyrus of Appomattox; three brothers, Robert (Pete) Higginbotham and Cecil Higginbotham, both of Rustburg, and Travis Higginbotham of Richmond; five grandchildren, William (Pat) Fielder III and his wife, Barbara, Kenny Fielder and wife, Gina, Jennifer Rawlings and husband, Jason, Kathy Cawthorne and husband, Duncan, and Christopher Fielder; and nine great-grandchildren, Charity, Hope, Faith, Breana, Landon, Kaleb, Brandon, Andrew and Collin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Carl Weiser. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
