James Faulconer Obituary

James Faulconer

James Perkins Faulconer, belovedly known as "Jimbo" to family and friends, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by his family. He bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with cancer.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on September 27, 1963, Jimbo was the cherished son of Jack Sterling Faulconer, M.D., and Aurelia Jewell Faulconer, both of whom preceded him in death.

Jimbo's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with a love for the outdoors and a zest for adventure. He was an avid sportsman, finding solace and joy in the pursuit of nature. Duck hunting alongside his dear friends, Max and Wistar, held a special place in his heart, as did turkey hunting with his beloved great niece, Aurelia.

His passion for the outdoors began early, nurtured by his father's guidance in the art of hunting and skeet shooting. Dirt bike riding became a thrilling pursuit he loved in his younger days. Fishing and scuba diving were a few of his favorite past times. Many traveling adventures abroad and in the US were an integral part of Jimbo's soul. One of his favorite trips was embarking on a solo cross-country road trip, meeting up with friends along the way. Mountains were his sanctuary, while the ocean's embrace provided an oasis of peace. He was very passionate about all types of music, especially rock and enjoyed many live concerts.

He was a proud graduate of Appalachian State University. Jimbo was also a devoted sports fan of the University of Virginia Cavaliers, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team.

Jimbo leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Faulconer Curtin of Lynchburg and Sterling Faulconer Peters of Madison Heights; along with numerous nieces, a nephew, and great nieces and nephews. His loyal labrador companion, Bodie, mourns the loss of his beloved Dad.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg, VA. A graveside service will follow at Amherst Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the National Wildlife Federation, American Cancer Society, or the UVA Cancer Center.

Jimbo's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
