James Templeton Obituary

James "Jimmy" Fred Templeton

March 10, 1954 - September 20, 2024

James "Dad, Papa, Jimmy or Jimmy T" Fred Templeton took his last journey on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 4:58 a.m. surrounded by the people who loved him more than anything. He was always up for an adventure. Jimmy was born in Lynchburg, VA on March 10, 1954 to the late Betty Yarhouse Templeton and Raleigh "Sonny" Templeton. Jimmy left behind two sons and their wives, Chris and Melissa Templeton; his beautiful granddaughters, Aubrey and Chloe; Trevor and Brittany Templeton; and his handsome grandson, Logan. In addition, he left behind a sister, Tricia Maddera; a brother, John Templeton; and the mother of his children, Donna Reichard.

Jimmy worked at Big Star Foods, J&B Distrbutors and Blue Ridge Beverage throughout his career. After Jimmy's retirement, he joined CLC Inc. as he loved being a part of the company and being with the people. He met many people who will always remember him for his kind ways and his unforgettable smile.

He could always make you laugh. He never met a stranger and could be at home in any environment. There was a special dynamic in the Templeton family as many came together for birthdays, holidays, camping events or for no reason - all enjoyed the gatherings whether the guests were current immediate family, ex's and their new partners, cousins or friends. The one thing that always stood out was the ability to be a family. Unconventional as it may be, it has always worked.

Jimmy was very proud of Chris and Trevor, the men they became; the husband's and father's they are and being successful businessmen. He was involved in every aspect of their lives, saw them everyday and will be missed each and everyday as they pick up the pieces. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. This is a huge loss for our family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Tharpe Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA.

I am honored to have had two children with Jimmy and was always proud of the co-parenting to raise them into the men they are today. Chris and Trevor, I am so proud of you for the love you have always shown your dad and including him in your everyday lives. Your wives and children are so fortunate to have known him!

I wish I could take the pain you are experiencing now and replace it with only great memories that will bring you comfort. I love you with all of my heart! Mom

Jimmy and I worked together at The Big Star in the Plaza, still can't tell what went on at Big Star. As I have gotten older I moved to Jefferson Villas. One winter one of the men moving snow knocked on my door to use the restroom Guess Who- Jimmy it was great to see him. One hard working man. Very sorry to hear of his passing.
Prayers for the family.
