John Clisham Obituary

John Philip Clisham, 76, of Forest, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Lynchburg General Hospital. For 21 years, he was the beloved husband of Alberta Martin Clisham.
Born Jan. 1, 1930, in Columbus, N.Y., he was a son of the late Bernard F. and Gladys Bartlett Clisham. Mr. Clisham was a retired manager with General Electric with 37 years of service and a U.S. Marine Corp., veteran, where he served in the Korean War. Mr. Clisham was a member of The Kirk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary P. Clisham and one sister.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Clisham is survived by two daughters, Carol C. Newman of Durham, N.C., and Cindy C. Oatman and her husband, Tom, of Woodbridge; one brother, Richard Clisham of Cassville, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Britney Clisham, Leah Clisham, Jason Newman, Joseph Newman, Travis Oatman, and Alexia Oatman and a great-grandson, Thomas Oatman.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. Jim Dellert and the Rev. Nancy White. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Sorry to hear of John's death. I was sadden to hear that he had passed away. He was such a loving , sweet fellow. I enjoyed working for him years ago.He will be missed by all. Take care and may God bless you in the days to follow.My prayers are with you and the family.

I was sorry to hear about Mr. Clisham death. I met you both when I had a candy store at the mall. I so enjoyed talking to you both. He had the best smile that would brighten my day.His smile is lighting up heaven now. God bless you and comfort you.
