Monica Hammett Obituary

Monica Jo Hammett (Bozik/Moore) beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and dear friend to all was taken from this world too soon on Sunday, March 17th, 2024.

Monica Jo, 54, was born on July 31st, 1969 in Hartford, Connecticut. She lived her early years of life in New England with her family and eventually relocated her residence to Amherst, VA, where she spent a significant amount of time. She leaves behind her loving parents, Howard "Butch" Hammett Jr. and Judith Hammett. In addition to her parents, she leaves her older brother Vince (Shari) Hammett, her daughter; Emilie Bozik, her nieces; Savannah (Elijah) Grishaw, Jo-Lynne Hammett, her nephews; Jarvis and Cody (Gabrielle) Hammett, and her grand nieces; Luna and Hadley Hammett.

Monica had the most beautiful and unique soul. She had an intense love for life, her family and nature. She constantly uplifted others and was a guiding light for those around her. There is no doubt that if you knew Monica, you knew her heart: warm and to the brim with pure kindness, no matter which walks of life. She was a dedicated, hard-working woman and prided herself in her work ethic. Her love for nature was evident in her appreciation of its beauty and desire to protect it. Monica especially loved her animals, her garden & plants, and sunrises & sunsets. Her heart beat for her family, as well as those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She cherished the little things in life. In the time she walked here on earth, she saw all the beauty around her. She was always taking pictures. She lived boldly, genuinely, and authentically. Monica loved the Lord wholeheartedly and her faith was unwavering. Jesus knows her by name and has surely welcomed her untimely passing into paradise saying: "Well done, thy good and faithful servant."

Monica Jo leaves behind her a legacy of love, kindness, and a deep connection to the world around us. May her bright spirit continue to inspire and guide us forever. She will be deeply missed by so many.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Earth Day, Monday April 22nd, 2024 from 6 to 8pm at Faith Baptist Church in Madison Heights, VA with Pastor Dr. Dan Reichard officiating. Dear Hammett Family,

I grew up with Monica. Went to school with her from elementary onward. We weren't close but always friendly. I was just looking at a birthday party for Lee Lucas that we were both at. We were having a ball.
I will always remember her as fun and happy. Deeply sorry for your loss. She will be missed.

Had the pleasure of growing up in the same neighborhood with Monica & going to the same schools. I was 2 years older but still spent several years in the same schools together riding the same bus. I was working at the same company as her, her dad & brother in the early 90´s before the closure of the CT facility & move to VA. Monica was always a beautiful soul. Thanks to social media I was able to connect with her several years ago when I took a trip to Virginia with a friend. We met at Chick fil A for lunch and spent a couple hours catching up. I was thrilled to see how much Monica loved the Lord and that we shared a common faith. I am so thankful to know exactly where she is now, safe in the arms of our Savior, free of the afflictions of this world. I pray that her family be filled with God´s peace that passes all understanding. May your memories carry you through until you meet again.

I'm so very to hear about Monica's passing. We were neighbors for many years and I looked forward to seeing her smile and wave as she went by. She was one of the sweetest ladies I've known. She loved her flowers. I had given her a Lily before she moved to West VA. Her family and friends are in our prayers.
