Preston Toms Obituary

Preston Lee Toms, 54, departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at his home in Rose-land. Born in Lynchburg, Jan. 22, 1953, he was a son of Susie Belle Carter Toms and the late Matthew William Toms Sr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Vanita Barnett of Washington, D.C., Alvina Toms and Levana Toms, both of Charlottesville; six brothers, Matthew Toms Jr. of Roseland, Reginald Toms of Charlottesville, Ira Toms (Bertha) of Amherst, Melvin, David and Dexter (Angela) Bowling, all of Lynchburg; seven sisters, Lecie Barnett (Homer), Sarah Thompson (Isaiah), Belle Thomas (Leonard), all of Roseland, Emma Jackson (Jesse) and Re-gina Toms, both of Lynchburg, Ruth Toms & Nancy Carter of Amherst; five grandchildren, Isiah Cowan, Asia Waller, Cam-eron Woodfolk, London & K.C. Jones.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. L. Keith Otey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Gar-dens. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to funeral service. There will be no viewing or visitation at the fu-neral home. Byrum-Parr Funeral Home is serving the family.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help me cope. Remembering your love
for music, outdoors, laughter and having a good time keeps me going. I love you and miss you so much.
