Richard Hughes Obituary

Richard Anthony Hughes

Richard Anthony Hughes, 70, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was the son of the late Richard E. Hughes and Phyllis Gleason Hughes.

Born April 8, 1955, Richard was a man of great valor, kindness, and humility. For over 40 years, he served his community with dedication and honor as a sheriff's deputy, earning the respect and gratitude of all who knew him. Beyond his service, Richard found joy and freedom on the open road, rarely passing up a chance to ride his beloved Harley wherever the journey might take him. Above all, Richard was a devoted family man whose love and presence will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate to share in his life.

In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Kimberly Frye Hughes.

Those left to cherish Richard's memory include his daughter, Emily Dawson and her husband, Ryan; and his grandchildren, Vivian Dawson and Wyatt Dawson.

The family would like to send a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Tina Tyree, and his aid, Hailey.
