Thomas Padgett

Thomas Morton Padgett, 70, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital while surrounded by his family. Born on July 8, 1954, in Bedford, VA a son of the late Morton Eldridge Padgett, Jr. and Frances Elizabeth Turpin Padgett. Tom was a graduate of the class of 1972 at Liberty High School and earned a Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech. He was a lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church. A very loving and humble man who loved his family and was so proud of each of them. Tom also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, boating on Smith Mountain Lake, planning adventurous family vacations, and could often be found on the back deck shooting the breeze, enjoying a cold beer, or sipping smooth whiskey. His love for his family was so evident and he will be missed dearly.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Beverly Arnold Padgett; his daughter, Teresa Padgett, his son, Drew Padgett, and Drew's partner, Madeline Peck. Also surviving are numerous other family members and so many friends.

A Memorial Service and celebration of Toms' life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Dawn Compton officiating.
