Willie Friday Obituary
Mrs. Willie B. Friday a Home Economics teacher at the Districts Dunbar High School for more than 31 years died of cancer disease Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Manor Care Health Services Facility in Chevy Chase, MD.
Mrs. Friday was born in Rustburg, VA on February 12, 1935. She attended Campbell County High School in Rustburg, Virginia State College in Petersburg, VA and Howard University in Washington, DC. She attained a B.S. Degree, a M.S. Degree and a Doctorial Equivalency in Home Economics.
Mrs. Friday leaves behind her husband, Frederick Friday; a son on the DC Police Force, Frederick Friday, III (Dr. Sophia Friday); two granddaughters, Nikia and Lelani Friday; and a host of other relatives, friends, students, teachers and acquaintances. We will miss Mrs. Friday by her absence.
A funeral service will be held 1pm, Friday, August 26, 2011 at CrossRoad Baptist Church, Evington with Pastor William J. Coleman, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family is receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The cortege will assemble at the church. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected] Community Funeral Home directing.

A gentle, kind, giving woman, she and her kind will be sorely missed - and not just at Dunbar. I'll offer my mass for her next Sunday.

Mrs. Friday was one of my first friends at Dunbar. I will never forget our rides to work together or her kindness to my children--who occasionally came to work with me. I will never forget how, for 29 years, she was the same steadfast, incredibly devoted and successful teacher and supportive colleague.
