Though I cannot be there in person to say goodbye, I feel it is important to share what you meant to me. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the times you visited and spent days with us. You were full of life, like a big sister-another one for me. We would wrestle, laugh, and tell jokes, and as we grew older, our bond never faded. No matter the occasion-family reunions, weddings, or get-togethers-you always brought joy and laughter. Seeing you always put a smile on my face.
I remember visiting you in Huntington, swimming in the pool, and playing with Smitty, your Dalmatian. You had a way of making people happy, especially my mother. Whenever you two were together, her laughter was infectious, and it was clear how much she cherished those moments with you.
Some of my favorite memories include our trips to Seaside Heights-convincing you to go down the water slide while Uncle Jack laughed at you-swimming in the ocean in New Jersey and battling the big waves, and simply watching Saturday Night Live, laughing together at the sketches.
Life can be incredibly difficult, and I know you faced unimaginable loss with the passing of your children. But through it all, you remained a presence of love and warmth. In a way, your memory loss may have shielded you from some of that sorrow. It´s hard to comprehend the twists and turns of life, but your strength, kindness, and spirit never wavered.
You left a mark on me, on Aunt Clare, and on so many others. I hope to carry that same kindness forward and leave an impact on those around me, just as you did. I will miss you. I will remember you. And I will always treasure the memories we shared.
Rest in peace, my dear, sweet Aunt.
