Moreland - Douglas Andrew,

age 92, of Levittown, NY passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025. He is survived by his sisters, Sherrie

(David) and Penny (Bill); as well as several nieces and nephews. Doug was a very talented, kind and compassionate gentleman who left behind an amazing legacy for those he knew. He was a well-respected elementary school teacher at both Lakeside and Island Trees, where he built life-long friendships with his students. He served many years as the church organist at the Levittown Community Church and accompanist for the Merrick Chorale. Doug also trained dogs as a member in good standing with SOTC (Syracuse Obedience Training Club) receiving numerous awards for his skills.

A memorial service will be held at The Parkway Community Church in Hicksville, NY in the near future. Donations made to Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue in MD or an animal rescue organization of your choosing would be greatly appreciated.

To the family of Mr. Moreland, please know how great his legacy is and how inspirational he was. I was lucky enough to sit on the stool alongside him during music class at Lakeside, where his enduring legacy started. Now in my 33rd year as a teacher, I credit Doug for being one of those who made me *want* to be a teacher. May he rest in eternal peace, may his memories bright light to your days, and may you--his family and friends--know how wide the ripples of his influence stretch.
