I'm a little late, but I'd like to send my condolences to Jerry and his family. I took singing lessons with Mr. Bragin, and he really boosted my self-confidence. I'm eternally grateful. He was wonderful to be with, and he had a terrific sense of humor. I could do things I never thought I could do by the time I finished taking lessons. The music world misses him dearly, I'm sure.

I took lessons from Jerry bragin for only one year in high school, but he helped me immensely and opened my ears to his "song stylings." What I mean by this is he would record on the piano let's say a Barry manilow song and change some of the phrasing to make it more interesting and unique. As I was playing the drums and singing in restaurants at the tender age of 14 back before musically untalented djs ruled the club date scene I found his recordings and exercises turned me into a better singer. Sometimes I found his breathing exercises a little weird like deep breathing with your thumbs on your ribs and bending over, but I did what he was told. Sometimes a bit too brutally honest like after I came to him one day, and my last period was gym he told me I really smelled bad, and that he proudly exclaimed he took three showers s day and used deodorant. Well...okay. anyway, a phenomenal pianist who could transpose on a dime and was genuinely interested in his students. I enjoyed looking at all of the photos of his students in the waiting room of his west Hempstead office. This man had a lot of class and professionalism. His lessons were expensive, but you walked away with a lot of useful knowledge.

Mr. Bragin was my vocal coach and he was great. I still have the yellow flute he gave me for my diaphragmatic breathing. Thank you Jerry for teaching me how to improve my voice and for introducing me to the great songs from Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Rest in Paradise.

My deepest condolences and sympathies to his family. I was a student, for a short time (2012-3) at the West 57th Street location, and couldn´t continue, in Hempstead, due to a new job, hours, and travel. However, I always kept our bi-weekly Saturday sessions in my calendar and decided to Google his name and came across this page. I´m saddened, but, may he Rest In Peace...

For some reason today I thought about Jerry as I was driving and singing in the car. Forty years ago he gave me a confidence I never had, as a young woman just out of the convent and newly married, to use my voice for the sheer joy of it! I have always been grateful to him.
I am sad to read of his passing a few years ago, and the loss to all who love him. I am thankful my path crossed with his as it changed my life for the better.
Peace to his family.

Jerry was apart of my life since I was 7 years old. Over 10 years he was like a grandfather to me. The lessons he taught me severly had an impact on my life. He was always good at reading people and tried to help in every way possible. Through my voice, I wish to honor what he started. I will dearly miss him.
