Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Hebert Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,850 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

I have the opportunity to visit Justin every Sunday. There is not a single visit that I do not walk away with tears knowing that this young man made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of the world. I made a promise to his sister that I would take care of his resting place for her while she is gone. I'll try to do my best to honor his memory and remind others of him.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Justin, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Well here we are again. Ended up in Mosul this deployment and I didnt miss it a bit from 03'. Justin and I were at AIT in FT. SILL together, Airborne school together, D 319th AFAR together, lived next door to eachother (in fact the tv that sits in my room back home was bought from him) and even dated a set of sisters at one time. lol. He would borrow my car from time to time or we would order pizza and split it. I was on the radio that day that our Fire Support Officer came across the net and asked for all the Fire Support NCO's. I'll never forget it, he said "We lost one of our fire support specialists today. SPC Hebert was KIA". My heart dropped. I didnt know or like many of the guys in the other fist platoon but he was the exception and considered him a great friend. To all the family and friends of Justin, I mourn with you every day. He was a good man and a great soldier.

Dear Justin,
Happy 24th birthday bro. I wonder what we would actually be doing to celebrate if you were still here with us. Of course now Nanny is with you and she will be there to wish you a happy birthday from all of us. I miss you and Nanny so much. However I am happy that she gets to see you as she missed you so much as well. Im jealous, I wanna see you more than anything in this world. I went with Marleana to your plaque at AHS. We laid flowers and a red/white/blue candle down for you.
Bro, you mean the world to me. Life has been so hard since you have been gone but I feel that I have done my best to roll with the punches. I am holding my head high in honor of you. I love you Justin. Miss the hell out of you too. Chad and I are going to party for your birthday, don't you worry. We miss you.

To the family and friends of Spc Justin W Herbert
I have only just begun this journey and have already found so many family’s of our sharing our pain.
I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one last month. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue and pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.
As always I read (and cry) through the memorials of our lost hero’s, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I am amazed and take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Justin have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine man.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Dear Justin,
I never met you, you have been apart of my life since Feb of 2004 when I became the Platoon Sergeant of your friends that you had in the D Battery 319th AFAR, 1-508th IN ABN FIST Platoon. I made purpose that we as a Platoon would never forget you. In June of 2004 you became more to me then I ever thought when I met your beautiful sister. She has been apart of my life since then, I love her with every ounce of my being. My promise to you is that I will love Jessica with all of my heart and soul till the end of time. I will protect her, honor her, and care for her within all my power.
Thank you, Justin for bringing us together. I know that you had some part in it for letting your sister and I met one another. For that I will be grateful for what you have done.
