Melvin Berlin Obituary
was his rock, the center of his world, and the love of his life. He is survived by his four sons, Scott (Mariann), Lance (Lisa), Ian (Beth), and Nils (Abbie); his sister, Judith Epstein; his nine grandchildren, Joshua, Adam, Alyssa,
Lexi, Brooke, Max, Jake,
Olivia, and Jeffrey; and two great-grandchildren, Payton and Tatum. Dr. Berlin was accepted to medical school after only three years of college at New York University. He attended the Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in 1963. Then he completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital, and in 1968, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. Settling on the South Shore of Long Island, he practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 41 years at South Side and Good Samaritan Hospital's with a sub specialty in infertility. Thousands of babies delivered over a 40 year career. Services are Wednesday, 10:00 AM, at I.J. Morris Funeral Parlor in Dix Hills. Burial at Calverton National Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Melvin's memory.

Dr. Berlin was by far the finest physician I ever knew. I will never be able to thank him enough for what he has done for me in my life.
In fact I thank Dr. Berlin for my entire family. He also delivered my youngest son in 1984. My deepest condolences to his family.

To the Berlin Family, Mel was a big part of so many lives, birthed so many of Islip's Children, we went to Hebrew school, together you all lived on Meeks Lane, then Ocean. Mel was my Mom's doctor most of my life. Our most sincere condolences of the passing of Dr. Melvin Berlin.

I worked with Dr. Berlin in the OR at SSH for many years. He had high standards, and he was a good surgeon. I was also a patient of his, and he treated me with kindness, respect and caring. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and I extend my deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

I was a patient of Dr. Berlins for many years and also worked with him at SSH in the ED. He was terrific. Kind and patient and he was greatly missed when he retired. Sometimes I saw him and his wife walking in Town or at the library. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Berlin and his entire family.
