My Mom worked as a volunteer secretary for the confraternity aspect at St. Brigid's. I went with her on Saturdays as a kid just to tag along. Fr. Callan was the spiritual head of the program at a time when the halls were teaming with unruly kids such as I was to become. It was probably in the first ten years of his ministry and I can recall his somewhat tense demeanor. Yet he conducted a fine program with a needed discipline that I am sure he would rather have not been responsible for. Father Roland Brodeur was his predecessor in this office and one cannot help but think we cannot hold these devoted to religious life in high enough respect for their unending devotion to their faith and its teaching inspite of incredible responsibility. In recollection, I am often recall more of the person who taught as a shining example to what they tried to teach us.I guess that is also true of Jesus, whom he well served. God Bless Father.
