Paul Sullivan Obituary

SULLIVAN Dr. Paul D., 68, of Huntington, NY passed away unexpectedly due to sudden cardiac arrest on April 28, 2020. Paul was born in Springfield, MA, on November 11, 1951, to Daniel and Ruth (Coughlan) Sullivan. He graduated from Cathedral High School and received his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross, where he met his beloved wife Linda (Miano) Sullivan. Paul then graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and moved to Huntington, NY, in 1978. He practiced dentistry in the village of Huntington for 41 years and thoroughly enjoyed the many relationships he had with his patients. He was a proud and loving father to Daniel (Suzanne), Brian (Maria) and Steven (Marina) and the happiest Papa to Ronan, Tara, Kayla, Tyler, Nate and Thomas. Paul also leaves behind his five siblings: Mark, Joanie, Janet, Martha and Neil, whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed skiing and golfing but above all he cherished his time with family and friends at his home. Paul will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father who always had a smile on his face and kindness in his heart. He had a unique capability of making everyone feel special. His family and many friends will miss him forever. His family held a private service and there will be a memorial to celebrate his life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to Smile Train. mysmiletrain.org-campaign-PaulSullivan

Doctor Sullivan was my family´s dentist for many many years...his warm caring style and positive outlook was inspirational, and I remember many a story and kind word shared during my appointments. One scenario stands out as he went above and beyond during a dental emergency around the time of my major thoracic surgery, as a 9/11 survivor. I was so scared, and he calmed me down, fixed my tooth immediately, so I could be operated on, and was a hero to me as he helped me through a difficult time. We will miss him dearly, I only found out today, and am frankly devastated. I send love and strength to his family, and my deepest condolences. He was a true gem of a dentist, and a wonderful wonderful person. I am so very sad to hear this news.

I apologize for this belated message. I remember Paul and Linda from our days at Holy Cross College. Paul was really one of the 'good guys'... someone you enjoyed being around. He was something of a role model, entering Dental School a year ahead of me. While we lost touch over the years, I knew through others that he built a successful practice, and that he and Linda had a beautiful family. My heart goes out to Linda and her sons and I hope that as time passes the pain of their lost fades and is replace with the happiest of memories.

Paul was so much more than our superb dentist for 40 years. He was a kind, warm and compassionate person who truly took an interest in the lives of all our family members. His death is such a terrible loss for his family and for all who wished him well and God speed in his recent retirement. Our great sympathies are with his family about whom he spoke with gentle love and pride.

Dear Linda, Suzanne, Dan, Tara, Ronan and the entire Sullivan family,

Where to even start about the loss of such a special husband, father and grandfather - for sure, the world is an emptier place. Paul was a man among men - an ultimate professional, gentle, kind and responsible. Over thirty years ago, I met Paul as a dentist and immediately knew that I hadmade a rare find - a brilliant and personable dentist, an empathetic and genuinely happy person, who solved every problem confidently and painlessly. Later on, I became more familiar with Linda and Paul as Tara and Ronan's grandparents. Their huge smiles when they described sleepovers and homemade birthday cakes and trips to Vermont with their grandparents spoke of the rich full life that Paul built and loved. Know that the trip continues after time and space - he's there watching over you all. All my thoughts and prayers are with your beautiful family.

All my Love, Sandy O'Reilly

Hello.
I posted Dr. Sullivan's obituary on Facebook. I cannot think about him or look at his sweet face without crying. And I was JUST his patient!!! But was anyone "just" his patient. I have attached the comments from FB. I think a college friend who never met him said it best...."Says a lot about who he was that so many are so sad about losing their dentist." I hope you read the comments from some of his patients and those who read about him and find comfort. I am pretty sure none of it will come as a surprise. He did ruin my boys for other dentists. He set the bar way too high. God Bless, Much Love and Know You Are All In Our Thoughts!!!

We were shocked and sorry to hear of Dr. Sullivan's recent death. He was our dentist since the very first days of opening his practice in Huntington. Aside from being an excellent dentist, he was always cheerful and friendly. He always spoke lovingly of his family. Dr. Sullivan was a true gentleman and we're sure he'll be missed by everyone who knew him. Our prayers and deepest sympathy to his family.

I'm so saddened to hear of this good man's passing. I met him only a few times but he was always so friendly to me, filled with graciousness and good humor. The love he had for his family was so apparent. God's good blessings to you all. I'm praying for all of you and for your peace and comfort at this difficult time.
