I've been in a "Rats" mood all week and listening brought back some of the greatest memories. The Palladium, Gildersleeves, and hanging at the bar in The Factory with you, Mickey and Joe. Great times with a great band. RIP Peppi........... one more rat

When I started dating my then boyfriend, now husband, in 1975 he brought me to "My Father's Place" to see The Good Rats and if we were lucky catch a rubber rat! I heard Peppi's voice and was hooked! Great to speak with some of my son's friends that are fans also and appreciate their wonderful sound. I still listen to "Tasty" when I want to hear great music, "Songwriter" my favorite. Glad I have memories of seeing a real artist. The voice will live forever!

Such a good man, a great talent and life well lived. Peppi's voice lives on. Thank you, Peppi, all the Rats and Marchello family.

My deepest sympathy to the Marchello family. I remember seeing Peppi perform on numerous occasions growing up on Long Island. I recall seeing The Good Rats in Baldwin one night, there must have been 10 people in the room but that did not stop the band from performing in their typical " take no prisoners" style. They were so consistently good that I would go every week to catch a show back in the early seventies- never a bad show...
Thanks Peppi for all the great shows and laughs and for the damn good rock n roll.... you broke the mold!
I also want to send my regards to Mickey, a greaT guy and fine guitarist.

Was introduced to the Good Rats by a Long Island friend in Denver CO. in 1977. I walked up and introduced myself to Peppi in 1979 in a club in New London Ct. He was warm and gracious and seemed more interested in me than I him. He invited me backstage where I met the rest of the Rats. A month later they were in New Haven at the Great American Ballroom. I had ball caps for Peppi and the band from my submarine. After the show he quickly ushered me backstage again where I gave the fellows their caps and Peppi insisted I stay and share the Johnny Walker Red that was there in plentiful quantities. Peppi was of course a great singer, songwriter and performer. He made time for a starstruck sailor and was more than generous with his time. We will miss you of course. We will also rejoice knowing you are seeing the face of our Lord.

My sincere condolences to the Marchello family and the rest of the band. Peppi was a living legend who lived for the music. He played every weekend of his life. For those of us who were there we witnessed a one of a kind talent, an incredible lyricist whose humor and bravado oozed rock n roll. whose golden throat was so under rated yet whose legend will live on forever. He was a great man, always willing to chat with the fans. I remember suggesting to Peppi that he ought to release a greatest hit record for those who were not yet familiar with his genius, he told me, "whaadya mean? there all hits". Indeed. I'm so shocked and saddened that he is no longer with us but I'm honored to have known him. His influence will not be forgotten or lost. The world has lost a hero. Fare thee well, brother. We will miss you.

God bless Peppi and his family. Last time I saw Peppi was in a small club in Freeport. At the end of the show to my surprise he happened to sit down with my wife and I. It was the first I ever spoke with him. What a humble nice unpretentious guy. Rock and Roll lost one of its best. Rip my friend.

God Bless Peppi and the Good Rat family. My favorite show was at Queens-bough Community College when go crazy Lenny Schultz opened. Last seen Peppi on 14th St in the city after seeing Spocks Beard at BB's and was able to converse with Peppi and he showed me his scar. We were very lucky to have such a great talent and to me he wrote some of my favorite songs and was one of my favorite performers. He did make it big in the hearts of us who truly knew what great rock and roll is and he is in our hall of fame forever, Gods Love to Peppi, I know he is writing Tasty songs on a harp for God as I write this, Peace

We, as upstate NY teenagers in the 70's, “discovered” the Good Rats by going to a local department store and perusing the discounted 8-track tapes. The original Good Rats tape caught our eyes, we bought it, and the rest is history. I've seen the band locally the few times they came our way – Popeye's, YaYa's, Binghamton U. twice and at Cornell with Heart. I'm a proud owner of a rubber rat and a Tasty album signed by Peppi. It's hard to accept that Peppi is no longer with us but we all know that his music will live on forever. To the Marchello family…please accept my condolences.

I never knew the man, but one could learn what a good guy he was by listening to his music. His was a life well spent, and he has left a formidable legacy. We are all a little richer for having heard his "rock and roll point of view". My condolences to his family and friends.

Peppi Marchello was loved by so many people. A monster talent, and a wonderful man. I had the pleasure of dealing with him to arrange a show at the Lindenhurst Moose Lodge in April. Peppi was a gentleman, and so fascinating to talk to. Of course, the show was great. He left us fans so much great music to be cherished forever. He will be greatly missed, but I hope his family can find some comfort in many happy memories.
