Richard, It was great being your friend for many years . Starting with our Probie class in the FDNY . With our families we had many great times together and great memories. Rest in peace .

Richard and I were in volunteer firemen in Company #3 at Dix Hills Fire Department. I recall he joined some time around early 1986. The picture attached was taken around that time at Station #1. Richard was always calm and mild-mannered, with a great sense of humor. [I also remembered that at the time, he was still a FDNY Captain; soon after he was promoted to FDNY Chief.] He and I fought a few fires in Dix Hills back in the late 1980s. I always remembered how he taught me how to be more efficient at knocking down ceiling panels when searching for lingering embers and flames at a worker.
Jeanette joined the rescue squad soon after. He spoke proudly a few times about his children, too.
Richard will always be remembered as a truly good person that I was fortunate to have encountered in my life. My sincere condolences to Jeanette and the entire Barth Family.
