Robert J. Doran

DORAN-Mr. Robert J., age 73, of Inverness died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at his home in Florida. Born August 23, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Doran was the son of Michael J. and Sadie McCarthy Doran. He Mr. Doran was a retired Asst. Chief Fire Marshal and former Fire Investigator for Nassau County, NY; former Commissioner and past Chief of the Syosset Fire District and Instructor for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms at the Federal Law Enforcement Academy, Glynco, GA. He was Coast Guard veteran serving during Korea. He moved to Inverness from Syosset, NY in 1991. Mr. Doran was past-President of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the New York State Fire Investigators and the Syosset Exempts. He was a life member of Nassau County Retired Detective Association and a member of the BATF National Response Team. He enjoyed writing about his travels and the history of the arson association. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael P. Doran (02-09-05). Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jacqueline M. Doran of Inverness, FL; son, Robert J. Doran, II of Leesburg, FL; 2 daughters: Colleen Nelson of Inverness, FL and Joanne LaCasse of Shirley, NY; 5 grandchildren: Mark, Michele, Magen, Kari Lyn and Kenneth; and 2 great grandchildren: Addison and Travis, Jr. Those who wish may send memorial donations to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667-2460.
