I have lifelong, loving memories of my precious nephew, Seth:
I remember, so vividly, that glorious moment in Maimonides Hospital - when my eyes widened in glee and my smile stretched out to touch each ear - "It´s a boy!" Our family´s first boy!
I can still feel the excitement I felt, planning the evenings I would spend with him on Brooklyn´s East 13th Street. After work, I´d stop off to buy him a little something that would make me smile, picturing how he would smile when I gave it to him.
Even now, I see him so clearly, sitting in Grandma and Grandpa´s kitchen with a dishtowel around his neck, insisting that I be the only one to feed him Grandma´s delicious chicken soup.
My forever wish for him - with all my heart and with special love - was a lifetime comprised of all the unique, unequaled qualities that were Seth Nolan...Beauty. Love. Humor. Compassion. Sincerity. And Joy.
He has been a joy for me to love.

Seth has always been such a larger-than-life person. As a child, of course I idolized him. I used to brag to all of my friends about my two really "cool cousins". Ethan, the rock star and Seth the weight lifter and boxer. Everything Seth did was intense and filled with passion. Whether that was representing his clients, as their attorney, some of whom were of limited economic means or even destitute, to keeping our entire family in stitches with his comedic skills and silly antics, which he did often during our visits to New York. Seth was somewhat of a dichotomy, in that on the one hand, he was very plain spoken and to the point. What you saw is what you got with Seth. He never held back from standing up for his beliefs, or for those he felt were being bullied or taken advantage of. On the other hand, Seth was a truly loving, sensitive soul. He wrote beautifully, including exquisite poetry. When it came time to choose the main toast for my grandparents´ 50th wedding anniversary, Seth was chosen to give the speech, which he wrote as an ode to them. It was written in the style of an old way, similar to Virgil or even Shakespeare. A way that seems to have almost been forgotten in our modern times. But somehow, Seth was able to capture my grandparents´ very essence.
Seth was also very wise. He was already well into his law practice when I graduated from high school and he gave me some of the best advice I have ever received in choosing a major for college, and eventually, on how to prepare for the practice of law myself. He was a keen observer of the human condition, with all of its flaws but also all of its beauty. We will forever miss his booming voice, his laughter, and his love. A hole is here in our hearts which can never be filled, but we will take with us the lessons he instilled in us. To stand up for justice and for truth, to live with passion and with integrity.

My uncle Seth was very special to me. I had many great moments with him, and every time I saw him, he was fun to be with. Whenever I saw him in person or we spoke over the phone, he and I loved talking about sports. Growing up, he was a very good athlete and loved to play many sports, such as baseball, basketball, and football. During summers he spent in Colorado, he learned to play tennis and enjoyed practicing with his brother Ethan. Today, I enjoy playing baseball, which is a game we both love, so we have lots to talk about whenever we get the chance.
Uncle Seth was always very generous and got me lots of gifts for birthdays and holidays. One that I really love to use is my X-Box that came with many exciting games. Every day, when I have free time, I like to use the X-Box and communicate with my friends.
I love my uncle very much and I will miss him very much.
Love Dylan.

My precious nephew:
Seth Nolan - as a tiny babe - totally unaware of the overwhelming joy he created in my life - by beginning his.
You. Me. So close. Bound together by a unique love for each other that was as evident in our eyes as in our hearts.
This special love for you is within me forever.
It has been a joy for me to love you.
