Dear Donna and Michael,
What a wonderful tribute to Shirley last night at the VFW Hall. She was never affraid to speak out when she saw injustice and we were proud to have her stand with us. Donna, your closing words last night about your Mom were so beautiful and touching. Shirley overcame so many obstacles in life, she had such inner strength that many of us can only imagine having. We were so sorry when we heard the sad news that she had passed away. Shirley will be deeply missed by all of us.
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Shirl and you will all be in our thoughts and prayers..
very sincerely, Steve Henaghan and John Roarty, Mastic, NY

Donna, I am so sorry to read about your Mom. I went to James Monroe with her and lived in Glen Oaks a few houses from you. . My daughter was a friend of yours, Rhonda. My son Jeffrey who also passed away went to Commack schools with your brother David.
Fondly,

I'm very sorry to learn of Shirley's death. She was a committed, energetic fighter for women's rights and policies to promote human dignity. She was also warm and accepting, with wonderful senses of humor and fun.
LI and the world can use more women like Shirley.
My deepest sympathy to Shirley's family and friends. -- Nora Bredes
