I was an Oceanside, NY High School classmate and friend of Steve. We both belonged to Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY where as brothers we all relied upon each other and shared our friendships and our challenges in College life. I just learned of his passing at our 50th High School Reunion on July 15, 2017. The evening was filled with fond memories and warm kind words for our true classmate. It is sad that I just found out about Dr. Cokinos' passing. He was one of my bosses at South Bay Cardiovascular I left the practice a long time ago. He was always nice to me and funny like crazy. He was also my dad's cardiologist, great person and great doctor. Sorry to hear that his children went through this loss... his pride and joy was his children and his wife. I know his legacy are with them because he was a great dad also. God Bless.

I was a patient of Dr. Cokinos for 21 yrs and my heart is saddened and shocked to learn the passing of a great and dedicated Dr. My heart goes out to the family and staff and all the patients during this difficult time . Many Many lives were touched By Dr. Cokinos and He will be missed! I will forever have memories of His good care ,His smile ,and his warm down to earth personality. My prayes and thoughts to the family ,rest in Gods arms as He comforts you and gives you the strength to face each day...

I met with him because of my best friend Serpil's heart problem. He was so kind, friendly, talkative, fun, and a positive thinker. He used to love his job and his patients thus he was not avoiding to spend time with his patients to explain everything by his relaxing voice which was great for heart issued patients and their relatives. As Turks, he was kinda our neighbor because of being a great Greek person. He will be deeply missed. A big and early loss for everybody. May God and happy memories of him give his relatives strength to find peace and healing. May he rest in peace.

I'm in shock to learn of Dr Cokinos passing today thru a letter from his office. It saddens me because he was truly such a gentleman and dedicated Doctor. I loved listening to him talk to me about Greece and his adventures and he always knew how to make me relax even when we had a few battles to face. You my friend will be sorely missed, my thoughts and prayers to your family and may God watch over them as I know you always will. So like you would say to me at the end of our appointment, now go home have a glass of wine and relax, May you Rest in Peace ~ Memory Eternal.

Dr Cokinos was my doctor for 13 years. It just doesn't seem real that he is no longer here.. He was a one in a million find.. He'd always spent as much time with you that was needed to reassure you everything would be alright. He was calm, direct but funny, . We talked over the years about his own health concerns, and about his dad that passed. He was not only a doctor but a friend. You might not see him for a year but he made you feel like it was just yesterday. His goodbye line was always the same. "Now get out of here, see you next year".
I pray that God grant his family the strength to get thru this difficult time, and may all of us take the wonderful memories we have of him and use them to smile every now and then if not just to remember this great man.

There isn't anything I can say to make this
Pain you are feeling right now become bare able but I can only give you love the way your father,your husband.my doctor and my friend gave me . I will always remember his smile which gave me comfort. I want to remember the great conversations I had with him as he talked of his father inlaw That he loved so much . In honor of this great man I would like to plant a tree if I could suggest a lemon tree with a scarf possibly tied to it that would be great . To a man that saved my life I will always miss you .

Dr.Coke, my family and I are so sorry to hear of your passing. May God bless your's and give them strength during this difficult time. I don't know how many that he called Lazarus, that was his nickname for me. How can you not love a guy like that? I had a visit from Jesus through Dr. Coke that night many years ago at GSH when he saved my life against all odds. I suffer from terrible anxiety and found myself sitting across the desk from Dr. Cokinos more times then I'd like to admit.. but he always took my concerns seriously, and treated me like I was family. I'll miss him talking into his microphone, telling me to stop eating Chinese food, telling me to "get outta here kiddo" and much more! But most of all, I'll miss the peace in my heart that I had when I would leave an appointment with him. Rest In Peace Doc. And much love to the Cokinos Family. Xoxo

Dr. Cokinos was my cardiologist for many years until I was forced to switch because of insurance to a new practice. He was a joy to be around as a person, and anyone under his exceptional care new they were lucky to be treated by him. On behalf of all of his grateful patients like myself we mourn his passing and send our deepest sympathy to his family, his friends and his colleagues. I knew Stephan from our Residency program at what was then called Nassau County Medical Center. He was a year behind me. We had a little group that hung out together in the hospital. It was a memorable time. We worked very hard but had fun. We subsequently all went our separate ways, and I never did see him again. I always planned to look him and some of the others up when I visited New York, but I regret it never happened.
After all these years, he is still etched in my memory as a vibrant young and capable doctor.
Rest in peace, my colleague. Rest in eternal peace.

Prayers hugs and love to all of Dr Cokinos' family.
A more compassionate and loving man you will not find.He kept my father alive to the age of 89 . They shared stories laughs and jokes many many times. But the thing they loved to share were FIG stories.
They could talk forever about the care of fig trees and even shared their plants with each other.
Dr Cokinos held my fathers hand for hours as he lay dying in in bed. I'm sure they are sharing again now in heaven.
My daughter will be getting married in Greece and he will be there in spirit with us . We spoke of this often.
May his wife, children and family find peace in that Dr Cokinos will forever live in the hearts and minds of whom he touched.
