As a colleague of Professor Blank's, I was always impressed with his technical achievements, creativity, and willingness to help others. Even on the week he passed, he had agreed to review our research, a testament to his commitment to selflessness. I will carry many fond and lasting memories of conversations and moments with Steve, including his recounting of a magical ice skating session during off time at a conference in Montana, sharing a train journey from Baltimore to New York, the various strengths and weaknesses of different electromagnetics texts, and our many discussions about rectennas, lasers, and wireless power beaming. He was a great person, and I know I won't be alone in missing him.

Professor Blank was my groups professor throughout our whole college career. We learned so much in our courses and he always challenged us to think outside the box and do things by hand rather than using a computer. Blank helped mold us into the young electrical engineers we are today. He will be missed.
