Methyl and Walter´s family,
Deepest sympathies to you all. 60 years ago, Walter and I shared a dormitory room at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Though we did not create a close and stay-in-contact friendship, I fondly remember the time shared and the paths we walked together. Walter was a gentle and sincere young man then, and from reading other tributes, he remained so for the rest of his life. He was clearly inspirational to many he taught and was loved by friends and family. I´m sure you all gave him much happiness and satisfaction throughout his days. Methel, you must have been his love and inspiration. I´m so happy to have had him in my own journey.
I am amazed that memory of Walter just came to the fore after years of not. So soon after his passing. I felt somehow compelled to Google his name from here in New Zealand to find his recent obituary in NY. Life connections are truly wonderous.

Our deepest sympathies, Methel. Though a gentle person off the court, Walt was an intensely competitive tennis player on the court. I had the privilege of playing with Walt, winning our last match together on February 20, 2020 in the 70+ Lee County league.

Dear Methel,
We are so sorry to hear about Walter. Although we haven´t seen you in recent years, we remember the times we spent with you and Larry and Sandra. Walter was truly a gentle man. I remember a night of Christmas caroling when I knew we were out of our league when you pulled out a pitch pipe! We are thinking of you and sending our love and sincerest condolences.

Made chemistry interesting, mostly because of himself and his style. Enjoyed going to class, and never heard any of my classmates ever speak ill of him. Continued chemistry in college. Too bad he wasn't my professor! God bless!

We are so sorry to hear the sad news. We remember Walt a the softest, kindest man around. I remember him telling me one beautiful night outside of Tennis Place the name of a bird that was making a sweet sound that I couldn't figure out. Our prayers and with you.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Gales passing. He was just not the best Chemistry teacher ever, but also one of the nicest, kindest human beings. He gave me a great love of Chemistry for which I am forever grateful. May he rest in peace.
