Gerald (Sandy) Key Lawrence Jr, 72 of Connersville passed away on December 7, 2021 at Reid Health Richmond. He was born on October 5, 1949 in Dayton Texas to the late Gerald Key Lawrence Sr. and Clara Belle Gardner.
After graduating from high school Sandy served in the United States Army. During Sandy's adult life he owed and operated Sandy's Place in his home state of Texas.
At the young age of 2 Sandy began his love of music with special interests in playing the drums and guitar. He was known locally for his contribution and organizing in the first battle of the bands contest that took place at the Amory in Connersville. Sandy was also a member of the Amvets and of the Broke Ass Bikers motorcycle club. Sandy was looked up to in the world of music and his memory will live on as a he was a music legend.
Sandy will be greatly missed by his children Shannon Burroughs (Larry Waters), Cheyenne (Chris) Urban, and Chelan (Jason) Kennedy, Shane Lawrence, and Shawn Lawrence; his sister Scharlot Montgomery. Sandy was loved by his many grandchildren; Tessia (Walker), Arren, Chesney, Dylon, Christopher, Kelsei (Dakota), Olivia, Chance, Landon, Kaiden, Storm (Nick), Brookelyn, Mason, and Jaylan as well as several great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandsons, Tevin, Craig and Ayden.
Visitation for Sandy will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home 513 W. 8th St. Connersville, Indiana 47331. The funeral service with military honors officiated by Pastor Chris Lovett will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
