Thomas M. Seffrin, 82, of Connersville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, where he had been a patient since March.
Tom was born on April 7, 1943, in Connersville at Fayette Memorial Hospital, to the late Walter Leo and Mary Jane (Connell) Seffrin. He was a lifelong member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom graduated from St. Gabriel School in 1957, St. Meinrad High School in 1961, and St. Meinrad College in 1965.
A proud veteran, Tom served his country in the United States Army. He enlisted on March 15, 1968, at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was honorably discharged on March 8, 1971, from Oakland, California. His service included active duty in Vietnam from 1968–1971 in a civilian military pacification program. He was also a member of the United States Army Reserves for six years. Tom remained connected to his fellow veterans through his memberships in the American Legion, AMVETS, and the VFW.
Tom was known for his very strong work ethic. His professional career began with D&M (later WCI), where he served for nineteen years as a Field Service Representative. He then worked at Ford Visteon from 1990 until his retirement in 2006. Even after retiring from factory work, he continued to serve his community through part-time jobs at Grandview Pharmacy and Fayette County Transportation. He was also a member of the Fayette County Senior Center.
In 2006, Tom was deeply honored to join the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard, where he proudly served, including as Commander from 2015 until October 2024.
Above all, Tom loved his family very much. He was united in marriage to the former Joyce Ann Easton on August 31, 1974, at St. Anthony Parish in Indianapolis. The ceremony was officiated by her brother, Monsignor Fred Easton.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Joyce A. Seffrin. Also surviving are his two children: a son, Walter (Christa) Seffrin and a daughter, Elizabeth "Janie" Seffrin.
Tom was a loving grandfather to Thomas D. Seffrin, Dustin (Mary Willett) L. Seeley, and Katelyn (Andrew Harrelson) A. Seeley, and a great-grandfather to Gracie L. Seeley and Luke J. Seeley.
