Casandra Scribner Obituary

Casandra Helen Scribner, believer in Jesus Christ, loving wife, dedicated mother, cherished daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter, and friend was born on April 12, 1980 in Bethesda, Maryland.

She went peacefully to the Lord on May 13, 2013 surrounded by loved ones at her home.

She and her husband, Josh, celebrated ten years of marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Josh; children Gavin and Olivia; parents Dr. Keith and Gwenn Zwingelberg; her brothers Robert and Austin Zwingelberg and their wives Emily and Stephanie and their children. She is also survived by Grandmothers Helen Fenwick and Inez Wynne as well as many extended families through the panhandle including; the Scribner, Fenwick, Wise, Campbell and Nelson families – The Morse, Meeks, Fenwick and Crowley families in Phoenix – and Zwingelbergs of South Florida, Alaska, and New Orleans. She is now celebrating with her brother-in-law Jason Scribner, her grandfathers and several other friends and family members.

Cassy was passionate about her faith in Jesus and her commitment to family. She loved days at the beach with Josh and her children, trips to Disney and the mountains. Josh is the love of her life and her best friend. She counted herself blessed to be with him the years they had and their children are a shining light from the eternal love she and Josh shared. She ran triathlons with her parents. A superb skier, she tackled Steamboat Springs just a few weeks after double mastectomies. "The doctor said I couldn't fall, not that I can't ski – I won't fall." Her resolve to live her time on earth to the fullest is exemplified by her life motto "Walk by Faith." Cassy was a mentor to Christian youth and sang in the Choir at St. Andrew First Assembly with her beloved mother-in-law Beverly Scribner.

Cassy is a Florida "Gator" with a bachelors in Human Resource Development as well as a recent honorary graduate of the Gulf Coast State College nursing program. She has run her father's medical practice for nearly ten years and recently pursued her love of patient care with a wonderful nursing staff and fellow students at GCSC. She was an active participant in patient care at the Panama City Surgery Center and has left many lifelong friends in the local healthcare community. She was active in the American Cancer Society Relay-For-Life at many levels.

Family and friends, along with Cassy, wish to express their eternal gratitude to Dr. John Nanfro, the staff of the Tommy Hamm Sr. Cancer Center, Radiation Oncology at Gulf Coast Medical Center and The University of Alabama, as well as Hospices for their excellent care, compassion and respect of her as a patient. She truly felt that no better care existed on this earth.

The family would like to invite all friends and family to come celebrate Cassy's life and share in remembrance of the countless good memories at a life celebration service at the Callaway Arts and Conference Center - 500 Callaway Park Way – 3 PM Saturday 18 May.

In lieu of flowers Cassy asked that trees, bushes, and flowers be planted in her memory. A nursing scholarship has been created and donations can be made at Hancock Bank, Cassy Zwingelberg Scribner Scholarship Fund. She will surely study hard in Heaven to pass all examinations and get her wings without delay. Rest assured, we all now have a guardian angel in Heaven – look closely in the years ahead, you'll see her work. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

As a year anniversary comes around for a very close friend of mine who's husband went on to his final destination on June 25, 2012, I am reminded of you Cassie Scribner who was such a sweet friend to my daughter most of her life. I did not know you well, although Amber spoke a lot of you. I know thru her and Mary that you are a sweet, precious soul that now has her final home. I think that it is very healing to my friend who lost her husband is a different way that she knows with all her heart that he is finally at home. So Cassie if you see Drew MacLean say hi, and keep a watch out for my grandbaby Franco too. See, you will be so busy in your new home. Jesus loves you so much and no worries,, I am sure your family will be covered up in prayer and love.

We were just getting to know Cassie and her family. Gavin is our son's first and best friend through school and their family is truly special as well as unique. It's amazing how someone can touch your life so quickly and deeply while others never make contact. Cassie had a glow that was God's essence and there is no doubt she is the brightest star in the sky with her heavenly father. We would love to see the kids again and will glady do ANYTHING to help.

I feel an overwhelming sadness and loss for Cassy's husband, children, parents and those who love her so very much, chief among them, Beverly Scribner. May you all be comforted in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. While Cassy will not be present physically, she will forever be with you. Be grateful for the joys she has left you with. A part of her lives in her children, and that is the greatest blessing of all. Be grateful for the time she was with you. My sincerest sympathy for all.

I didn't know Cassie as well as I would have liked. But she always impressed me with her bright and believing spirit.

I've taught Gavin a couple of times, and Olivia has been in my S. C. class for a year or so. Love those children and the family. Breaks ones heart to lose one so full of faith and love.

May God comfort all the family and loved ones. Cassie is well and safe now with Jesus. For that I'm so thankful!

Although I never really got a chance to know Cassy inside and out, I remember spending time in Florida with Josh and Cassy leading up to their beautiful wedding. Josh and Cassy seemed to have a love that would last forever. It saddens me that their love here on earth has been interrupted by such a horrible tragedy. I wish we could be there with the family to celebrate such a beautiful vibrant woman and the life she lead. I pray that Josh and their children's pain of her loss here on earth is comforted by our AWESOME GOD as only he can do. My sincerest apologies to all her family.

Your diagnosis saved my life as it spurred me to my own diagnosis. You were my cheerleader through some of my darkest days, even as you walked through your own. You were an angel that graced this earth. Now my friend, you are completely healed and in the presence of God Himself. Your impact here will be felt for generations to come.
