Ruby Williams Obituary

Ruby Lee Spates Rogers (Moosey) Williams, 72, of Lynn Haven, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Bay Medical Center, surrounded by her beloved family and pastor, Rev. Woodrow Wilson.

She was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Florella, Ala., to David and Jewel Boone Spates. Ruby was the third of five children born to that union. The family moved to Panama City, Fla., and she attended Shaw Elementary School in Springfield, Fla.

Ruby met and married Lacy (L.C.) Rogers, and to this union five children were born, three daughters and two sons.
In 2004, she married Andy James Williams who preceded her in death.

She was a very faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She and James worked as a team and was very dedicated in serving as head cooks in the church's kitchen and were very sincere in working for the Lord and giving their service unselfishly. She loved to cook and she enjoyed doing that.

She was also a member of Choir No. 1 and served in that capacity until her health failed her and she could no longer mount the choir loft.

Ruby was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Pearl Ash, and one brother, Ozell Spates; and a son, Alphonso Rogers (Mickey).

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories one sister, Martha Ann Mason of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, David Spates Jr. of Panama City, Fla.; three daughters, Joyce Rogers, who was special care giver, Denise Atter-bury, Jacquline Rogers, all of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Dennis Rogers (Dora) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a step-mother, Mrs. Maggie Peterson Spates; four stepsisters, Estoria Clark (Samson), Bernice Johnson of Panama City, Fla., Annie Mae Curry Bryant of Midwest City, Okla., and Louetta Curry Gilbert (Morris) of Hesperia, Calif.; one stepbrother, Emmitt Curry (Annette) of Lima, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Emma Watts Spates Hogan and husband of Panama City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, special grandson Tyrone Rogers (Shawn) of Korea, Patrice, Darius, Tonya (Recco), Shelly, Pamela, Markita, Dennis Jr., LaeZiel, Alphonso Jr. and Leola; great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Lakie, Tyrone Jr., Tye, Javien, Tyree; special great-grandchildren, Aremy, Aziza; one great-great-grandchild, "Peach;" and two special cousins, Mattie Gammon and Emma Harley.

Ruby also leaves to cherish her memories numerous nieces, nephews, other cousins and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends.

May God bless each and every one of them.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 719 E. 13th Court, Panama City, Fla., with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in the Hillside Cemetery.

The remains will lie in state at the church this evening from 6-8 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1417 Minnesota Ave., Lynn Haven, Fla.

My dearest family members in Panama, It is so hard to say the right words or have the right words to convey. But just know that I do have you all in prayer. Aunt Moosey, I will miss you and your famous biscuits when I come home. No one can make them like you.
God Bless us all.
