ASHLAND — Anthony Albert Stanitis Jr., 72, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, Feb.4, 2016, at home surrounded by members of his loving family.
He was born in Ashland, Dec. 8, 1943, a son of the late Anthony Albert Stanitis Sr. and Dorothy Sarah Stanitis, of Ashland.
Anthony was a meat and poultry inspector for the USDA and retired after 32 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was well known for his story-telling and jokes. He was a well-rounded man that knew something about everything.
Surviving are three sons, Anthony Thomas Stanitis Sr., and his wife, Cathi (Schwartz) Stanitis, of Hegins, Michael Lee Stanitis, of Herbster, Wisconsin, and Timothy Mark Stanitis of Ashland; his mother, Dorothy Sarah Stanitis, of Ashland; a sister, Catherine Sarah Stanitis, of Ashland; and a brother, Andrew Stanitis, and his wife, Jean, of Hershey; a granddaughter, Samantha Rae (Stanitis) Rutkowsky, and her husband, Joe Rutkowsky; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Rutkowsky, of Shenandoah; and three grandsons, Anthony Thomas Stanitis Jr., of Shenandoah, Travis Dennis Stanitis and Oscar T. Dale, both of Bayfield, Wisconsin.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Albert Stanitis Sr.
