MOUNT CARMEL - Mildred E. (Hrabsky) Trefsgar, 96, and Ben T. Trefsgar, 98, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, and Sunday, June 18, 2023. They were married for 68 years. Millie and Ben were devoted spouses, parents, children and friends and will be greatly missed.
Millie was born in Kulpmont, Oct. 30, 1926, and was preceded in death by her parents, John A. Hrabsky and Evelyn (Suchanicz) Hrabsky.
She graduated from Kulpmont High School, in 1944, and ventured with her best friends, Mollie and Martha, to Washington, D.C., and worked briefly at the FBI. Millie also worked at the General Cigar factory in Mount Carmel for 10 years and then devoted her life to raising her children and keeping a loving home.
She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, in Mount Carmel.
Millie will be remembered for her devotion to family and her witty personality and sense of humor that kept us all smiling.
Ben was born in Mount Carmel, April 21, 1925, and was preceded in death by his parents, Tony Trefsgar and Helen (Douse) Trefsgar.
He graduated from Mount Carmel High School, in 1943, and was very proud of his No. 38 RT position on the Red Tornadoes football team.
In 1944, he volunteered for service and was deployed to central Europe with the U.S. Army 88th Infantry Division.
He worked for Mount Carmel Borough as an equipment operator and then at Cardinal Container Corp. as a maintenance electrician until he retired in 1988.
Ben was an accomplished pistol marksman, amateur ham radio operator, craftsman and all around Mr. Fix-it. He will be remembered as a caring husband and father and a stoic and humble man.
Millie and Ben are survived by their children, Lynn (Trefsgar) Brassington, of Midlothian, Virginia, and Ben J. Trefsgar, of Mount Carmel; a son-in-law, Bryan Brassington; a daughter-in-law, Suzy Trefsgar; and grandchildren, Kathryn, Lauren and Matthew Brassington and Toney and Emily Trefsgar.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, at St. Michael's Orthodox Church Cemetery, in Mount Carmel. Arrangements are in the care of C.J.
